How to Be More Creative with These 20 Inspiring Quotes
Hi everyone! This is my first ever post on this blog, and I decided to start off by sharing 20 inspiring quotes about creativity. Quotes are some of my favorite things to read and I find they can be very deep and meaningful. Quotes are perfect for finding inspiration, coming up with new ideas, as well as giving people motivation.
Sometimes, when I find myself in a slump, reading a few quotes that remind me about where I’m going and what I’m meant to be doing is enough to get me out of a rut and keep me going. Creativityis a difficult thing to obtain, and it often feels fleeting and short-lived. I decided to write this post to share quotes that will inspire creativity for times when you just can’t seem to think of new ideas.
1. Soul Paintings
“Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.”
— Henry Ward Beecher
I love the imagery that this creates in my mind. It reminds me of the way artists add meaning to their paintings and express themselves through their art.
2. Originality
“If you’re not prepared to be wrong, you’ll never come up with anything original.” — Ken Robinson
I love this quote, because it’s a great reminder of the importance of being comfortable with failure. If you’re too afraid to even try in case you fail, you’ll never end up achieving what you want in life.
3. Curiosity
“Curiosity creates possibilities and opportunities.” — Roy T. Bennett
I think curiosity is such a big part of creativity, and it is something you should never suppress or push away.
4. New Perspectives
“To think creatively, we must be able to look afresh at what we normally take for granted.”
— George Kneller
This is another great quote that emphasizes the importance of looking at life through new perspectives. We have a lot of things we often take for granted, and forget the fact that others don’t get to have the opportunities that are presented to us every day.
5. Do the Work You Want to See Done
“Draw the art you want to see, start the business you want to run, play the music you want to hear, write the books you want to read, build the products you want to use — do the work you want to see done. — Austin Kleon
Just another straightforward quote reminding us of the importance of taking action.
6. Why Not?
“Others have seen what is and asked why. I have seen what could be and asked why not.”
— Pablo Picasso
This really portrays the importance of curiosity, much like the ones above, and highlights the fact that every tangible creation first begins as an idea.
7. Creativity
“Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, having fun.” — Mary Lou Cook
Well said.
8. Life as a Painting
” Every day is an opportunity to be creative — the canvas is your mind, the brushes and colours are your thoughts and feelings, the panorama is your story, the complete picture is a work of art called, ‘my life’. Be careful what you put on the canvas of your mind today — it matters.”
— Innerspace
Another great analogy of how life can be expressed as a painting.
9. Don't be Scared to Make Mistakes
“To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong.” — Joseph Chilton Pierce Quotes
Similar to the quote about getting over the fear of failure. Spreads a good message.

Both of these things are very important for creation.
11. Intelligence

— Sir Joshua Reynolds
16. Delicate Ideas
“A new idea is delicate. It can be killed by a sneer or a yawn; it can be stabbed to death by quip and worried to death by a frown on the right man’s brow.” — Charles Brower
17. The More Ideas, the Better
“It is better to have enough ideas for some of them to be wrong, than to always be right by having no ideas at all.” — Edward de Bono
18. The More You Use, the More You Have
